Jordan Peele is set to return to form with ‘Us’
If you loved 'Get Out,' then get ready!
After waiting what seems like a lifetime, Academy Award-winning director Jordan Peele has finally announced his latest film, Us, via Twitter.
Peele horrified audiences everywhere with his debut film Get Out, so undoubtedly this “new nightmare” will once again become a pop culture phenomenon.
Although Peele is currently withholding almost all information regarding the film, Vanity Fair has reported that Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tales) are in the talks for lead roles. Winston Duke, who starred alongside Nyong’o in Black Panther, is also reported to be in consideration for the film. If they are apart of the cast, Nyong’o and Duke will play a Black couple, while Moss and another actor will play a White couple.
That is all that is known about the plot of the film at this time since Peele has yet to spill his guts with further information. However, he did state that the film is, “…not gonna be about race, it’ll be about something else, but it’s gonna be very cinematic and fun.”
After the release of Get Out, Peele stated that he wanted to write and direct four more original social thrillers over the next decade. So, Us is eschewed to hypnotize and stimulate the minds of audiences everywhere once released.
To watch the trajectory of the sketch comic post Key & Peele has been nothing short of remarkable. The aforementioned Academy Award speaks to the timing and importance of Peele as one of the more important voices of this generation. Us will definitely bring back all the cringeworthy creepiness and social awareness that this cinematic genius is becoming known for.
If you loved Get Out, then get ready because Us is set to be released in March of 2019.
