The Drop – Tiësto, Elohim, Thirty Seconds To Mars & More
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Justin Timberlake & Chris Stapelton – “Say Something”
This is my favorite release so far from JT’s upcoming album, Man of the Woods. His releases so far have been much grimier and synthy, and this song does a 180 from that. “Say Something” is a broken down acoustic track that focuses much more on lyrics as well as the overall texture. It is much more in the lane of the Justin Timberlake I love.
His new album is set for release this Friday.
Shallou & Riah – “Lie”
A vibrant lush beat sits on top of the melancholy message off of Shallou’s latest track, “Lie.” Indie, pop and electronic music combine forces on this song, which make it an easy listen. In addition, Riah’s angelic vocals make the breezy essence of the track that much better.
Thirty Seconds To Mars – “Dangerous Night”
Thirty Seconds To Mars has released more music off of their still untitled upcoming album. It is not the rock sound we are used to hearing from Thirty Seconds, however, Jared Leto’s vocals shine over the heavy electronic acoustics giving the song its dramatic feel. There is definitely more to come from this band and their first album release in nearly five years.
R3hab & Mike Williams – “Lullaby”
Future house and an energetic drop, make this lullaby unlike any I have ever heard before. R3hab & Mike Williams created the perfect atmosphere for a bouncy tune that has so much to offer in just a few minutes. I see this song making its way into plenty of DJ sets in 2018.
Elohim – “Fuck Your Money”
“I got love, fuck your money.” Those lyrics sum up this latest track from L.A based artist, Elohim. Upbeat and sugary, the indie singer blends electronic and indie pop with her own twist on one of her most playful releases yet. Elohim is another artist popping up on plenty of lineups, including Coachella in April.
Sia, David Guetta, & Afrojack – “Helium”
“Helium” feels like the 2018 version of “Titanium.” Sia and David Guetta team up once again; this time with the help of Afrojack to give us a heartfelt and lively dance remix to the original song from Sia. Her powerful vocals sit in such unison with the infectious chorus drop. The remix was created in regards to Sia teaming with MAC Cosmetics for her new lipstick where all the proceeds will go towards AIDS/HIV funds.
Johnny Balik – “Honey”
Sitting in a coffee shop on the coast with live music is where I picture myself listening to Johnny Balik. His bluesy vibe and tender falsettos make “Honey” one of my favorite new releases. Basic acoustics and a sleek vocal give us an easy listening we can relax to.
Tiësto, Gucci Mane, & Sevenn – “Boom”
As if this song wasn’t already one of my favorite releases of 2016, Tiësto brought back the banger with the addition of Gucci Mane. The track is already a club hit and is still played in mass amounts of DJ sets, but Gucci Mane’s flow gives the beat some new flavor and reestablishes itself for 2018.
