Noah Richardson’s Alternative Versatility On Full Display With “Dead To Me”

Noah Richardson is not going to be regarded as an underground artist for much longer. He just released his first project Dead To Me, which hovers sonically between R&B, house, and indie rock. The title track is accompanied by a well done music video that completely matches the message of the song and album as a whole.
“Growing up, I actually lived in a funeral home and honestly this was a huge part of my identity,” Richardson explained. “These roots are extremely important to me and I wanted to pay homage to the world I come from.”
The music video for the song “Dead To Me” does in fact take place in a funeral home, where Richardson stars as the protagonist who fakes his own death only to be chewed out by a girl, presumably his ex, at his burial. The visual feels more like a short film, and its creativity shows the thought and effort Richardson brings to the table with his craft.
“I take influence from everything,” he said. “I’m almost like a ‘picky sponge’, observing things and being like ‘let’s see how we can use that!’”.
Richardson draws inspiration from John Mayer, Remi Wolf, Dominic Fike, and COIN; each artist’s influence can be felt in his work. “Dead To Me” features a funky bassline and simple drum breaks, allowing Richardson’s soft voice to grab the listener’s attention.
The future is bright for Noah Richardson, who plans on working on new music and playing his newly released songs live. With his smooth combination of alternative and R&B styles, he is sure to command your attention soon enough.
