On Wax: Young Thug Dropped ‘So Much Fun,’ Mauley G Units Cites ‘For The Gang,’ & DaBaby and Lil Baby Collab
YOUNG THUG RELEASED “SO MUCH FUN”
For a while, it seemed Young Thug had taken a backseat in hip-hop until ‘The London” released featuring J. Cole and Travis Scott. This was enough to get fans ready for the next move Thugger was about to make—that move being “So Much Fun” with J. Cole serving as executive producer for the project. Thugger presents 19 tracks, and now we can ask: Has Young Thug leveled up?
FERG RELEASED “FLOOR SEATS”
A$AP Ferg has dropped a new EP titled Floor Seats. The project features nine songs with plenty of bangers and features. Most of the songs are hard-hitting records, which are perfect for live shows. Alongside fellow A$AP member, A$AP Rocky— Madeintyo, Rico Nasty, Ty Dolla $ign, and Asian Doll all appear on the project as well.
“RANSOM” REMIX
Lil Tecca sees more success with his single, “Ransom,” with an official remix. Chicago’s Juice WRLD hopped on the already popular track where he adds his signature auto-tuned vocals and cadence, giving it just enough to garner another listen.
THREE CITIES UNIT “FOR THE GANG”
Flat out, there might not be a harder chorus released than Mauley G’s “For The Gang.” Uniting Chicago, New York, and Florida, this is a track for everyone to find some love for. Featuring G Herbo and JGreen, each artist does more than just appear—they come through in a strong fashion before returning to an even harder hook.
NORMANI MAKES WAVES WITH “MOTIVATION”
The Fifth Harmony member, Normani, is making waves as a solo artist with her newest single. “Motivation” is a smooth pop track that is blending plenty of R&B attributes. The dancy song is already gaining attention, as it seems to be a late summer smash. It’ll be interesting to see where Normani goes as she breaks away from her pop group.
SNOH AALEGRA
Up-and-coming Swedish singer, Snoh Aalegra, has released her second album, – Ugh, those feels again, which is a welcoming return to the singer’s smooth vocals over luscious instrumentals. Sensual and sexy, the featureless album has plenty of songs for multiple moods. As Snoh continues, her fanbase keeps growing as she’s becoming one of the best artist in her field.
SWAE LEE’S SOLO PURSUIT CONTINUES
Swae Lee continues his solo success with two new singles, “Sextasy” and “Won’t Be Late” featuring Drake. While “Sextasy” is an auto-tuned R&B jam, “Won’t Be Late” revisits the dancehall vibes he made on his solo album. The feature from Drake definitely helps his career, and we’ll see what’s to come from these tracks…
DABABY x LIL BABY
When DaBaby surfaced on the scene, one of the first thoughts was a possible collaboration with Lil Baby who had previously blew up with the hit titled “Yes Indeed.” Well, when the collab actually happened, fans of both artists couldn’t have been more overjoyed. Uniting for “Baby” in this Scarface inspired music video has proven that this was the collab that needed to happen sooner rather than later.
Until next time, it’s On Wax.
