Rappa Hones In On Hit-Making Frequencies Via ‘Trappin’ In Tha Winter 2’ Album
Rappa is starting off 2023 by releasing some of the best new music he’s ever made.
The Watts-bred producer has channeled his versatility into his nine-track album Trappin In Tha Winter 2 (TTW2), which builds on thethe OG four-track project that dropped back in 2020.
While TTW2 is somewhat of a return to form for Rappa, who primarily focused on releasing singles and DJing in 2022, the LP captures him reaching new heights as a producer. During a recent conversation with Control Forever, Rappa explained how his intentions were to elevate his level of artistry with this project by reaching for the stars and pushing himself to curate on a more demanding and detailed accord.
“I’ve been listing to records from artist who’s projects have been going number one and they have a different varieties of music genres on there projects,” Rappa said.
He continued, explaining how he modeled his approach to composing the track list for the project with the type of variety that world-famous ice cream shop Baskin Robbins offers with their trademark “31 flavors,” slogan. “It’s like when you go to a ice cream store they don’t just have one flavored ice cream but different kinds,” Rappa said.
”I used that same method for the music — everybody doesn’t just want West Coast music, but trap as well. So that’s why you hear both on this project from ‘Who Want Smoke’ with NWG Suave and ‘Maybach’ with Twon etc.”
The project includes guest appearances from artists such as NHale, AD, Santeezy818, NWG Suave, Duke Bin Laden and more.
While TTW2 is Rappa’s first release of the year, he has plans to deliver even more collaborations and branch out within his DJing operation, also.
