Right in the feels with R.LUM.R
“I started doing this as a side project, and I didn’t know people were going to react so strongly. But I really like lots of types of music. Why not explore them? There’s no reason to be limited.” – R.LUM.R
Reginald Lamar Williams, Jr. is an alternative R&B artist who is actually uniquely known as R.LUM.R. He claims how his professional name represents three parts: the past, the present, and the future –and even the meaning behind that is pretty inspiring. Besides having a gentle and soothing voice, R.LUM.R also happens to be a sensational guitarist who originates from Florida.
I wouldn’t say his music feels trendy or flashy– it’s rather raw and simple– giving it a timeless, urban feel. I’d definitely say R.LUM.R is an artist of many colors as he can jump from alternative R&B to soul. I first came to notice him due to his song, “Frustrated,” and it still is one of my favorite songs by him to this day. It’s a stylish song throughout, and you’ll start to think who this artist is once you listen to it. This particular song, along with a few single releases he had on radio stations first, gave him recognition amongst the crowd of big artists.
To put it shortly: R.LUM.R is an R&B artist with acoustic roots. His music is something new, and undoubtedly, he knows how to mix it up, but also transition smoothly between styles; think of him as a chameleon artist. He’s soulful, simple, and genuine; you can’t help but want more of him once you get hooked. It’s usually just him and his guitar, but sometimes he’ll add more bits to create different vibes. He loves to experiment with what he can create as an artist, and I feel like that type of grit is so valuable and rare today.
R.LUM.R doesn’t place any limitations on himself, and I think we can all gain a little inspiration and learn to not limit ourselves when it comes to being creative. Have a listen to his music– he’ll get you in the feels:
