Saba’s New Vibes
When I think of Saba… I think about how his R&B music was a bit more upbeat and lively. Whenever I watched him sing live, I was able to almost feel the excitement he felt when he would sing his lyrics. However, I’ve come to realize how he as an artist has more layers of dimension to his style, and I can’t help but have even more respect for his consistently amazing works. He hasn’t been too active lately, but that probably means he puts a lot of effort into creating his pieces, and when he does present us with a new album or single, you know it’s going to be good.
His music has evolved from the beginning of his career and although he has been gaining more listeners throughout, I feel as though he is still underrated despite how strong and meaningful his songs are; especially the most recent releases. I’d say Saba is still a gradually growing artist, but that doesn’t make him any less talented than big hit artists. He has been able to show black, white and grey emotions through his music, and I love how I can listen to him depending on my mood, too.
People may think as though Saba’s songs are getting more and more depressing, but I actually love it because it shows how real his lyrics are. His most recent single, “Busy,” portrays this. It displays the effects of being busy in life, which of course is a relatable topic for almost everyone. The song has hints of blue emotions and also topics such as relationship tolls. I feel like this song is one of the more raw songs out of his previous works.
Regardless of the song he sings, Saba has the smoothest flows and his lyricism is always fulfilling; his form of expression is insane. We can definitely continue to expect more from Saba.
