The Drop – Alessia Cara, RL Grime, & MØ
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Alessia Cara – “A Little More” (Pick Of The Week)
Alessia Cara, since coming onto the music scene, has easily become one of my favorite voices. It’s the soft and sweet distinct textures to her vocals that constantly draw me into her music. “A Little More” has the components of a lullaby filled with love… This song feels like an absolute dream.
RL Grime – “Pressure”
RL Grime’s latest release can also be found as a feature in Apple’s most recent commercial, and it absolutely bumps. It brings bassy drops that I can hear being dropped in his sets already. The release comes from his upcoming album, Nova, that is set to be released later this month.
Louis The Child & Quinn XCII – “The City”
My favorite part about Louis The Child is that there is not another DJ duo out there making music that sounds like theirs. They continue to make their way into dance music with an elixir of beats that are entirely and organically their own. “The City” has vocals from Quinn XCII, and is an absolute laid-back summer tune.
benny blanco, Halsey, & Khalid – “Eastside”
An unexpected release from benny blanco, Halsey, and Khalid has now turned into one of my favorite new releases. Khalid continues to be on fire with new releases and features all over the place that it’s becoming more apparent that most things he touches turns to gold. Halsey and Khalid share lyrics about love and relationships on the song, and has become the perfect duo.
MØ & Diplo – “Sun In Our Eyes”
This tag team duo are finding their groove as a pair, and “Sun In Our Eyes” is yet another release that is crushing it. MØ brings silky vocals over the Diplo production, giving a fun and flavorful summer beat.
Alex Da Kid, Jorja Smith, H.E.R, & Rapsody – “Go 2.0”
Put Jorja Smith on any song, and it will be one of my new favorite songs. Then, throw H.E.R and Rapsody on it with her, and I’ll about lose my mind. This R&B masterpiece pulls and tugs at every emotion, and gets you in all of the feels. You cannot go wrong with this track.
Alison Wonderland (Valentino Khan Remix) – “Good Enough”
This remix has become absolutely everything to me. Not only is this the banger that Wonderland plays to kick off her live sets, but now head banging master, Valentino Khan, has stepped in to give it even more of a heavy punch. The wubs are infinite in this remix, and I think this song will be making its way into DJ sets everywhere.
