The Drop – Anderson .Paak, Foster The People, & Whethan
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Anderson .Paak – “Who R U?”
Anderson .Paak has blessed us with another single off of his upcoming album, Oxnard. “Who R U” follows up his previously released single with Kendrick Lamar, and continues on .Paak’s path of funky riffs and bouncy beats. Oxnard is set to release on November 16th.
Whethan & Bipolar Sunshine – “Top Shelf”
Whethan brings the heat and energy to his new track off of his new project, Life Of A Wallflower Vol. 1. The eight-track project features previously released singles and three new songs, as well “Top Shelf” featuring Bipolar Sunshine that is my favorite addition on this project. It is Whethan’s rendition of house music that also brings together his futuristic nuances that I have become accustomed to hearing from his music. Whethan continues to be a young and driving force in dance music.
Lennon Stella – “Fortress”
Lennon Stella is a newcomer to the indie pop scene, and has already had a big year with her own singles; as well as her collab with Liam Payne, the former One Direction member, and Jonas Blue. Now, she has released her final single, “Fortress,” prior to her album release this Friday. Her sweet and tender vocals give her music a magical touch that makes me excited to hear her entire upcoming project.
Foster The People – “Worst Nites” (Pick of the Week)
Foster The People treated us with an upbeat electro-rock tune. A collection of instruments give us the tropical funky beat, and frontman Mark Foster brings his raspy vocals to bring it all together on my favorite release of the week.
Steve Aoki & Kiiara – “Be Somebody”
Steve Aoki’s highly anticipated album, Neon Future III, was finally released, and it is full of massive drops and a ton of collaborations. My favorite track is “Be Somebody” that features Kiiara on a very dance heavy beat that I have had on repeat. Aoki describes the album as a global community. “Across the board, the artists on this album represent different cultures, languages, and walks of life coming together around this album concept.” The album has a little something for everyone, and with every listen I love it even more.
The Wombats – “Oceans”
Every time I listen to The Wombats I feel like I’m immersed in all of my favorite ’80s movies and their soundtracks. “Oceans” is another track for the group’s repertoire that features their indie surf rock sound that is lively and energetic. The Wombats have also just released their deluxe album, Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life.
LÉON – “Falling”
Léon is prepping to release her self-titled debut album in 2019, but until then I will be swooning over her latest release titled “Falling.” Her captivating tones over a groovy beat have me hooked on this release.
