The Drop – Avicii, Bon Iver, & CamelPhat
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Avicii – TIM
It has been a year since the loss of Tim Bergling (Avicii), and in memory his last project was completed and released—now family, friends, and fans have a lasting piece of Avicii’s brilliance in dance music. TIM is as melodic as ever, and brings in previous Avicii collaborators, such as Aloe Blacc, Chris Martin, and Vargas & Lagola. Track by track we get to dive into the soundscapes that Avicii became famous for. While the loss of Tim still weighs heavy, his music continues to impact listeners around the world. All net proceeds from the album will be going toward the Tim Bergling Foundation, which focuses all of their efforts on mental health.
Jonas Brothers – Happiness Begins
The Jonas Brothers getting back together is everything I needed out of 2019. The brothers are older, wiser, and just as cool as they were when the band formed some time ago. In their new documentary, they discuss the process of the band getting back together, why they broke up, and how the album came about, which all absolutely makes this album feel even more profound. The Jonas Brothers are definitely back and are getting ready to set out on tour in the next few weeks.
Bon Iver – “Hey Ma”
Bon Iver has graced us with two new tracks as follow-ups to their 2016 album, 22, A Million. “Hey Ma” is sweet and serenading with graceful guitar riffs and easy-going vocals. The tracks come off of Bon Iver’s forthcoming album, which currently has no release date yet, but is definitely on its way. Bon Iver is also setting out on a North American tour later this year.
CamelPhat & Jake Bugg – “Be Someone”
CamelPhat brings the house music with Jake Bugg on the newest release, “Be Someone.” The track has a much more synthy and heavy beat compared to their 2017 hit, “Cola.” Keeping a one track mind, the songs stay close to the same tempo while adding little bits of flare and flavor as they continue on. This is yet another track to add to that poolside summer playlist.
Bastille – “Those Nights”
Bastille is prepping for the release of their album, Doom Days, which is set to release this week with the release of their final single, “Those Nights.” The moody and dim track is all about searching for that special someone in the midst of a chaotic life. The album is their first in some time, and I’m sure we will be seeing a lot more from Bastille in the next festival lineup year.
K.Flay – “Sister”
A funky and explosive pop track from K. Flay is redefining the rules of sisterhood and what that means to her. The single is outrageous and fun in every way with its catchy hooks and danceable chorus. K.Flay is another artist gearing up for a new album release set for this coming July.
4B & Flosstradamus – “Blackout”
4B and Flosstradamus are teaming up for their latest release, “Blackout.” This track is an in your face and bassy trap concoction that absolutely slaps. The tune is intense with sharp turns and high energy drops. This track is here to get every party started and every festival stage headbanging.
