The Drop – Billie Eilish & A$ap Rocky
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.
Billie Eilish – “come out and play” (Pick of the Week)
I am beyond ready for a full-length Billie Eilish album. I can boast about her and her music all day long—she is a fan favorite here. Her lyrics are well beyond her teenage years, and her tender vocals reel me in every single time. Her latest single, “come out and play,” is gentle and serene, and brings in the holiday season in a captivating way. This song is definitely one you must listen to and my favorite of the week.
A$AP Rocky – “Sundress”
This is my favorite side to A$AP Rocky. The psychedelic features and a Tame Impala sample continue to push Rocky out of his comfort zone and into more new music since the release of his album, Testing. The track is a fresh and exciting new release from the rapper, and is a great addition to 2018, as we begin to round out this year of music.
Boston Bun – “Better Together”
This French house DJ is delivering a rich and silky single this week with “Better Together.” The deep house beats make it a groovy exposition that has left me vibing along to constantly since its release. If you love classic house music, then Boston Bun is an artist for you.
James Gillespie – “Him.Her.”
James Gillespie is a new found artist for me. His essence reminds me of Hozier mixed with James Bay—so naturally, I was quickly invested into his vocals. The singer-songwriter is truly impressive with his love-longing lyrics and extremely vulnerable vocals. I will be waiting for a full-length album in the new year from this new artist to watch.
Kinder – “Something More”
Winter is definitely here, but Kinder is still bringing the sounds of summer. The sister duo gives us their latest single, “Something More,” which is packed full of tropical sounds and energetic drops, making it an infectious song to listen to anytime.
