The Drop – Brockhampton, Lana Del Rey, & ZHU
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

BROCKHAMPTON – GINGER
Brockhampton’s new album, GINGER, is their follow-up to their 2018 album, iridescence. The new project is extremely melodic from the intro track, “NO HALO,” to one of the closing tracks, “LOVE ME FOR LIFE.” The album itself is tackling so many different emotions where I actually can’t pick a favorite just yet. It is probably some of my favorite work from the super group that really gets better with every single listen.
Mura Masa & Clairo – “I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again”
Mura Masa is here with his first single from his next full-length album since his debut release in 2017. Clairo and Mura Masa have teamed up on “I Don’t Think I Can Do This Again,” and have created a warped and undeniably electric track. There hasn’t been a release date for Mura Masa’s upcoming project, but with this new announcement, I can assume more singles are on the way!
NGHTMRE & ZHU – “Man’s First Inhibition”
Bass house lovers should be prepped to lose their minds over the latest collaboration from NGHTMRE and ZHU. “Man’s First Inhibition” is deep and gritty with its twists and turns, and there is also a feature from Kidd Keem; this new track is just too fresh. One listen for yourself will explain why fans are beyond hyped for this one.
Lana Del Rey – “Fuck it I love you” & “The greatest”
Lana Del Rey blessed us with two more songs from her upcoming album that are accompanied by their music videos. “Fuck it I love you” and “The greatest” are full of melancholy vocals in true Lana Del Rey fashion, and keep in tune with her favorite surf rock riffs and theatric choruses. We are in the home stretch of the release of her upcoming album, Norman Fucking Rockwell, set to release this Friday.
THEY. – “Stop Playin'”
The next era of THEY. is on the horizon, and “Stop Playin'” is the first slice from what is to come next. This single is a definite R&B slow jam that is just too catchy for its own good. If this is the first inclination of what is to come from THEY., then this next project will definitely be worth the wait.
Taylor Swift – Lover
Taylor Swift’s new album is taking the charts by storm, and by the looks of her opening VMA’s performance, she had everyone singing along to her latest release, “Lover.” The album is dramatic, lovely, and has some of my favorite lyrics that Swift has written so far. Tracks like “The Man” scream girl power and equality all at the same time, while “Cornelia Street” is that story of being in love and life never being the same in the most beautiful way. Every song has a story to tell, and whatever that story is, Taylor Swift is telling it honestly and carefree. Lover is really some of her best work yet, and if you love some good ol’ pop music, then this album will have you bopping along to every song.
