The Drop – Diplo, Vampire Weekend, & A$ap Rocky
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Vampire Weekend – Father of the Bride
Vampire Weekend’s new album, Father of the Bride, is their first release since their 2013 album, Modern Vampires of the City. This new piece of work has been a long time coming, and feels like a big inhale of fresh air. A complete compilation of carefree and breezy songs, making summertime feel like it is in full force.
A$AP Rocky, Sabrina Claudio, BURNS – “Energy”
This has to be one of my favorite releases of the week from A$AP Rocky, Sabrina Claudio, and BURNS. It has this super flavorful beat with Claudio serenading over most of the track. This track is undeniably catchy and has turned into one of my favorite collabs from Rocky thus far.
Of Monsters and Men – “Alligator”
Of Monsters and Men have released their first single from their upcoming album, Fever Dream, since their last release in 2015. An energetic and rock infused single, this song takes on a new path that is a heightened version of their indie rock sound from their previous work— it is edgier, but still has their sweet flare. This new era of Monsters and Men has me excited for their new album that is releasing soon.
Diplo – “Hold You Tight”
Diplo can do no wrong at this point, and everything he is beginning to create turns into dance music gold. His new EP, Higher Ground, is four tracks of house music with “Hold You Tight” being my absolute favorite from the project. Higher Ground is a bold release that is resurfacing the underground house music sounds and bringing them into the light for everyone else to hear.
Bastille – “Joy”
Bastille is on the brink of releasing their upcoming album, and “Joy” is the next single to follow the title tracks, “Doom Days” and “Quarter Past Midnight.” “Joy” is a euphoric state full of synthy indie rock beats and bouncy lyrics that fits into the exact style that I love so much from Bastille. Doom Days is set to be released June 14th, and Bastille has also announced their North American tour beginning in September.
