The Drop – Florence + The Machine, & Louis The Child
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.
Louis The Child & Wafia – “Better Not”
Coming off of their explosive weekend one performance at Coachella, the duo also released their new song to kick off the festival weekend. Tapping into their tropical side, the beat is flavorful and full of bounce. Wafia’s candy-coated vocals make the track fun and impossible to not bop along to.
CHVRCHES – “Miracle”
A grand scale is set for the newest release from Chvrches. Filled with synths and guided by percussions, the song is taken to new heights with lead singer, Lauren Mayberry, booming on vocals. “Miracle” is another strong addition to a highly emotional forthcoming album that is due this May.
Florence + The Machine – “Sky Full Of Song”
“Sky full of Song” is the first ballad we have seen from Florence since 2016, and it is as captivating as ever. An emotional escapade of mostly acapella vocals accompanied by strings and piano, creating beautiful lyrics of clashing feelings. Florence + The Machine continues to be one of my favorite storytellers in music, so I can only hope to see more new releases in the future.
Sofi Tukker – “Benadryl”
Coming off of their debut album, Sofi Tukker jam-packed it with heavy beats and intense waves. However, “Benadryl” takes a turn to a new direction. The beat slows down and continues on one wavelength throughout the song, keeping it much more groovy and soft. The entire album earns a listen, but my favorite takeaway is the unique journey “Benadryl” takes us on.
5 Seconds of Summer – “Youngblood”
5 Seconds Of Summer is shedding anything that could have them compared to what they used to be. A coming-of-age release is also the self-titled track for their upcoming album; “Youngblood” is gritty and expressive. Their new music is getting me more and more excited about their new sound, and what they will continue to create.
Tinashe & Little Dragon – “Stuck With Me”
Tinashe and Little Dragon were an unexpected collaboration that I am absolutely in love with. It’s cool, easy listening with a beat that is for sure a vibe to go along with. “Stuck With Me” comes off of Tinashe’s latest album, Joyride, that features other artists like Offset, Future, and Ty Dolla $ign.
