The Drop – Flume, Tame Impala, & Foster The People
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.
Flume – Hi This Is Flume (Mixtape)
I did not think I was going to see the day (well, anytime soon) where Flume was going to be releasing new music, but thank goodness the day is finally here, and now we have Hi This Is Flume. This mixtape is a wild concoction of sounds that takes listeners to a whole new spectrum in dance music. It comes with a visualizer, which only takes us further into the mind of one of the best producers in the game. Stay tuned for even more from Flume.
Tame Impala – “Patience”
Tame Impala is coming back into the playing field with new music in alignment with his major headlining spot at Coachella 2019. “Patience” is breezy and cool, and captures his sounds of psych-pop so effortlessly. This song, like most of Tame Impala’s work, is a vibe all on its own.
DJ Snake & Eptic – “SouthSide”
For DJ Snake fans, “Southside” has been an I.D. for sometime in his live sets, and now we all get to relish in this song’s intense entirety. DJ Snake combines forces with producer Eptic to create the synthy and bass filled track that is an absolute monster that has been unhinged.
Fitz and The Tantrums – “123456”
Fitz and The Tantrums are back again as they return to the scene, and I am thinking this really is going to be the year for indie rock music. “123456” is as upbeat and fun as all of their previous releases have been, while still feeling like a new and fresh sound stemming from their upcoming album. I am beyond stoked for even more music from Fitz and The Tantrums, as well as what this year has in store for them.
Sofi Tukker – “Fantasy”
Sofi Tukker takes us to an entirely different universe on their latest release, “Fantasy.” This is their first major single since the release of their debut album, Treehouse, and it does not disappoint. They are bringing us into a new era of their music that is ready to take on a life of its own and make this duo more epic than ever.
Foster The People – “Style”
Foster The People is here with another new single, “Style,” and it is an anthem nonetheless. It is angsty and guitar riff ridden, and I am guilty of loving every second of it. There hasn’t been an official announcement of an upcoming album yet, but here’s to keeping our fingers crossed for even more from Foster The People.
ILLENIUM & Kameron Alexander – “Pray”
Illenium and his latest release with Kameron Alexander is as grand as ever. “Pray” is an experience unlike anything else that Illenium has released in some time, while still being a big and majestic sounding track that Illenium has become known for.
