The Drop – Gesaffelstein, Solange, & Juice WRLD
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Gesaffelstein & Pharrell Williams – “Blast Off”
Two of the most innovative artists have joined forces to create a single, which is unlike anything that is currently being released. Gesaffelstein and Pharrell Williams have given us this smooth and retro sounding dance/R&B track that I honestly cannot get enough of. Gesaffelstein did not come to play with his upcoming album, Hyperion, and I am counting down these next few days until its release on March 8th.
Juice WRLD – “Hear Me Calling”
Prior to his sophomore album, that will be dropping next week, Juice WRLD has graced us with a new single titled “Hear Me Calling.” I can’t help but continue to love his releases with their island infused beats and heartbreaking lyrics because there is a lovable quality to his music—which leaves me excited for this upcoming album. Death Race for Love is set to be released this week.
Jonas Brothers – “Sucker”
The Jonas Brothers have united and basically sent the pop music world into an absolute frenzy with the release of their first new single, “Sucker.” Like it or not, this song is an absolute bop that is impossible to not find yourself singing along to. The Jonas Brothers reunion has me swooning over the late 2000s era of music, and has left me so excited for the prospect of even more new music from the brothers in 2019.
Solange – “Stay Flo”
Solange has just released her new album, When I Get Home, and it just gets better with every listen. After listening numerous times to “Stay Flo,” it has definitely become my favorite standout on her album. Her vocals hit a new range, and the chord change throughout the track take it even further. This song is a whole vibe on its own. The entire album is eccentric R&B gold that has me becoming an even bigger fan of Solange.
Hozier – “To Noise Making (Sing)”
The new releases from Hozier have my expectations exploding for his upcoming album. “To Noise Making (Sing)” has all the qualities of his indie/folk sound that I love. This feel-good track oozes sunshine and inhabits gospel textures, as well as vocals that make it even more lovely. The release of Wasteland, Baby is in the horizon, so expect even more from Hozier in the upcoming months.
Billie Eilish – “wish you were gay”
This new release from Billie Eilish is another new route that her music is taking. Taking a step away from the dark and moody beats from her previous releases, she takes a more lighthearted approach to a heartbreak song. We are fast approaching Billie Eilish’s release of her debut album, When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which is set to be released March 29th.
TV Noise & Dillon Francis – “EDM O’ CLOCK”
This song is as chaotic as chaotic comes, but that is the epitome of Dillon Francis now, isn’t it!? The concept of this song is a parody of dance music and all the stereotypes that come with it. Dillon Francis created the concept of changing the song every four bars, and with every drop comes a different sound in the next count. It is full of distorted vocals, bass wubs, and the iconic power horns that are well-known in dance music. As wild as the concept is, it is undeniably catchy and has Dillon Francis written all over it.
