The Drop – Katy Perry, CRAY, & Social House
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Katy Perry – “Small Talk”
Katy Perry dives into the completely awkward world of running into your ex on her new single, “Small Talk.” It makes light of that weird situation in a complete heavy pop, Katy Perry way. This is her second release since her hit single, “Never Really Over,” and I hope this means that we are getting even more from Katy this year.
Lana Del Rey – “Looking For America”
Lana Del Rey’s new single is heart-wrenching and an absolute plea for peace. “Looking For America” was released amidst all of the violence that has been taking place in our country—specifically mass shootings. Lana laments on the ‘60s inspired folk track, and you can’t help but be completely captivated by the lyrics and message Lana is sending. Her new album is set to be released August 30th.
Louis The Child & Wrabel – “Too Close”
A new single and a new tour announcement, Louis The Child is really rounding out 2019 in the best way possible. Their new track, “Too Close” featuring Wrabel, is a colorful, exciting future bass tune with tons of pop influences etched into it. Their tour is set to take place across North America later this fall.
Labrinth & Zendaya – “All For Us” (From the HBO Original Series, Euphoria)
“All For Us” is as dark and moody as the show that it stems from; Euphoria is a drama series from HBO that if you have not seen yet, you must! It is a definite must-see. This track is the closing song from the season finale, and Zendaya and Labrinth are absolutely mesmerizing on it.
Social House – “Tropical Rain”
Social House has just come off their big release with Ariana Grande, and have now released their new project, Everything Changed… My favorite has instantly become “Tropical Rain” with its cool vibe and R&B nuances; it is so easy to groove along to. I can expect to hear much more from Social House this year.
CRAY – “idontwannatalkaboutlove”
CRAY hits us with an electropop track that could really find its way onto an indie pop album anywhere. Taking a step away from her heavy-hitting songs, this one hits home in a different way. The lyrically driven “idontwannatalkaboutlove” has an easy-going beat that is easy to get lost in every time you hear it.
