The Drop – Louis the Child, Ellie Goulding, Mumford & Sons
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Louis the Child feat. Elohim – “LOVE” (Pick Of The Week)
Louis the Child announced a few weeks ago that they would be dropping their new EP, Kids AT Play. The nine-track project is full of Louis The Child goodness with previously released singles, such as “Better Not,” “The City,” and “Dear Sense.” However, the new fan favorites have been the dance-heavy phenomenon “Space Jam” and the sweet simplicity of “LOVE.” “LOVE” features one of my favorite indie artists, Elohim, who has collabed with Louis the Child previously. I am hyped off of this new EP, and “LOVE” has become my pick of the week.
Mumford & Sons – “If I Say”
We are just a couple weeks away from the release of Mumford and Sons latest album, Delta, and their second single titled “If I Say” has now been released. It is an acoustically broken down ballad that is simple and perfect. This album is said to be reverting back to their folk roots and re-establishing the Mumford and Sons from an earlier time, but still in a new 2018 way.
Ellie Goulding, Diplo, & Swae Lee – “Close To Me”
Ellie Goulding is easily one of my top artists in pop music—she has a voice unlike anyone else. “Close To Me” features Swae Lee and production from Diplo; it has a symphony that is intertwined into its synths that creates an upbeat and lively track from this trio.
Robyn – “Ever Again”
Robyn is the artist that I have been waiting for a return to electropop music for some time now. Her new album, Honey, explores the soundscapes of a more retro time that reintroduces the original sounds that I fell in love with in the genre electropop. “Every Again” is full of energy and absolutely electrifying, and I am here for this new era of Robyn.
Lila Drew feat. GoldLink – “faded/2 am”
GoldLink has consistently released music that I vibe with. The latest song he features on with Lila Drew is a slow jam, groovy track. Lila Drew takes simple vocals over a smooth beat, which makes for an easy R&B listen that I can play over and over again.
Oberhofer – “Dreamt I Was Gonna Be Your Man”
Oberhofer has a sound that is the epitome of indie rock. “Dreamt I Was Gonna Be Your Man” is a bouncy track that is full of color and flavor. If you are a fan of Vampire Weekend, Matt & Kim, or Grouplove, Oberhofer will absolutely fit into that wheelhouse, and has become an instant favorite for me.
Vera Blue – “All The Pretty Girls”
The Australian songstress Vera Blue is a new found voice I am loving. Her folk tones meet a moody electronica beat that when combined creates an enigma of cool. “All The Pretty Girls” is a sweet texture with an edgy twist. Vera Blue is definitely a new artist to keep an eye out for.
Gryffin & ZOHARA – “Remember”
I could rave about how much I love Gryffin all day long. His music is magnetic and something I just cannot get enough of. “Remember” gives off a ton of house vibes, but with vocals from Zohara, it creates a big dance house number that is a great release from one of my favorite producers.
