the drop – Travis Scott, Majid Jordan, & CHVRCHES
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Travis Scott – “HIGHEST IN THE ROOM”
Travis Scott’s latest single, “HIGHEST IN THE ROOM” (which is rumored to be about his recent breakup with Kylie Jenner), follows suit with his sound that he has become very well-known for. This single feels like a continuation of his massive 2018 album, ASTROWORLD, and is definitely the start to even more music from Travis Scott heading into 2020.
CHVRCHES, Death Stranding: Timefall – “Death Stranding”
Saving the world has never sounded so romantic until CHVRCHES’ new single, “Death Stranding,” that is inspired by the new PlayStation 4 game, Death Stranding. As opposed to their 2018 album, Love Is Dead, this single is uplifting and sweet, as well as describes love as the only thing worth saving. The single will be featured on the video game’s album, which also features a track from Major Lazer and Khalid. The album has an official release date of November 7, 2019.
NGHTMRE & Grabbitz – “Bruises”
The collaboration between NGHTMRE and Grabbitz has created one of my absolute favorite releases of the week. The track is titled “Bruises,” and it is electric and synth-filled—as well as combines the perfect amount of NGHTMRE and Grabbitz, which makes this song so undeniably cool and catchy.
Niall Horan – “Nice To Meet Ya”
This is Niall Horan’s first single since his debut outside of One Direction back in 2017, and I am absolutely here for “Nice To Meet Ya.” This song is a pop/ rock exhibition that is totally paying off. He takes his raspy tones over the upbeat tempo that has me welcoming Niall Horan back into the stream of new releases. I can’t wait to hear more from him in the new year.
Big Gigantic & Ashe – “Friends”
Big Gigantic and Ashe bring all the chill vibes to their latest track, “Friends.” A saxophone infused drop and groovy transitions have this dance track feeling like a hot summer day, or a single to blast while getting ready for a festival. I expect to hear even more releases from both artists in the upcoming year.
Majid Jordan – “Superstar”
The duo is back yet again with their new single, “Superstar.” Majid Jordan delivers cool and sultry all in one on this single. This song can be left on constant repeat without ever getting tired of it, and that is the consistent vibe from Majid Jordan. This is another artist that I am expecting lots of new music from in 2020, so stay tuned for all things Majid Jordan.
