THE DROP – Two Door Cinema Club, Skrillex, & 5 Seconds Of Summer
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

5 Seconds of Summer – “Easier”
The artists of 5 Seconds of Summer are truly evolving from their boy band persona that has been attached to them since their hit single, “She’s So Perfect.” Their new single, “Easier,” comes off of their upcoming fourth album, which has been said to have a heavy influence from ’80s and ’90s rock music, along with current influences from artists like Disclosure, Gesaffelstein, and St. Vincent. “Easier” is a very new wave and synth-filled track that continues to show the many layers to 5SOS.
BAYNK – “go with u”
Baynk brings all of the summertime vibes on his new release, “go with u.” The track is extremely melodic and wavy. The New Zealand producer brings together tropical house and future bass sounds with every release, and continues to rise within the dance music scene.
Kelsey Lu – “Due West” (Skrillex Remix)
Skrillex is putting his own spin on his track with Kelsey Lu that he previously produced. “Due West” is not the kind of remix we are used to seeing from Skrillex—it instead is a soft and wavy rendition of the already sweet track. Skrillex is also set to be releasing music all year long, so stay tuned for even more from him.
Kaiser Chiefs – “Record Collection”
Kaiser Chiefs continues to be one of my favorite bands in the indie rock scene for several years now. They are coming in with brand new energy for their upcoming album, Duck, and brought that upbeat spirit on their first single, “Record Collection.” Duck is set to be released this July.
Kygo & Chelsea Cutler – “Not Ok”
There aren’t many who can make heartbreak sound as pretty as Kygo does. His new single with Chelsea Cutler brings together heartwrenching lyrics with a contrasting flowy and colorful beat that make “Not Ok” the perfect balance of summer love.
Two Door Cinema Club – “Dirty Air”
Two Door Cinema Club is another indie rock favorite that I am constantly excited about whenever they release new music. Their new single comes from their upcoming fourth album, False Alarm, and is the third release from their new project. “Dirty Air” is a pop-influenced track, and it is all about the world ending and having one big party to celebrate it. False Alarm is set to be released June 21st.
