THE DROP – TYLER, THE CREATOR, LANA DEL REY, & PASSION PIT
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.

Lana Del Rey – “Doin’ Time”
Lana Del Rey’s latest cover is bringing new life to the Sublime track, and it will definitely be a comeback song for this summer. Along with the release of “Doin’ Time,” she also shared with fans her love for the band and that she does not go a day without listening to them. Who knew Lana Del Rey was such a massive Sublime fan, but I am here for it.
Passion Pit & Galantis – “I Found U”
Passion Pit and Galantis are the phenomenal pairing I was not prepared for. The falsetto sounds from Passion Pit create the perfect juxtaposition with Galantis’ vibrant chords. “I Found U” is colorful and lighthearted, and it is exactly the kind of music I want to be bouncing along to all summer.
The Black Keys – “Go”
This new era of The Black Keys has me itching for the release of their full album, but until then, we have their next single titled “Go.” The track is guitar riff heavy and captures every essence of rock music that The Black Keys have perfected over the years. This is a song that should be added to every playlist.
Malaa & Jacknife – “Revolt”
“Revolt” is a dark and twisting road of deep synths and bassy blends. Malaa and Jacknife have combined their talents to create this electronic escapade of intricate sounds. “Revolt” is a club-ready banger.
FRENSHIP & Bastille – “Won’t Let You Go”
FRENSHIP is the epitome of feel-good music. Their new album , Vacation, is exactly what you think it would sound like; carefree, relaxing, and happy. My standout choice on the album is “Won’t Let You Go,” which also features the indie rock band, Bastille. The song is lovely and warm, and I fall more in love with every listen. This is definitely the ideal song to kick off every summer day.
Tyler, The Creator – “EARFQUAKE”
Tyler’s new album, Igor, is complicated, dynamic, and perfect. Track-by-track we dive into the mind of Tyler and his relationship experience that I am completely invested in as soon as the album begins. While each track holds its own on the album, “EARFQUAKE” is my absolute standout pick. This song sets the tone for what is to come on the rest of the album, and it’s not only my favorite song on Igor, but my favorite of the week.
