The Drop – Years & Years, SG Lewis, & Justin Timberlake
The Drop is us cutting through the massive jungle of new music that’s been released over the last seven days. We sharpen our proverbial machetes and cut through the shit to get you to the content that you need to be listening to.
This is The Drop.
Years & Years – Pablo Santo (Pick of the Week)
I was not sure what to expect from Years & Years new album, Pablo Santo, but after obsessing over it the last few days, it is becoming one of my favorite releases of the year so far. Its moody, futuristic tones take their easy-going vibe to another level. The album is definitely an unexpected favorite for me, but also one that I think everyone should be diving into. It has so many different aspects to each song, and is a complete journey through ’80s synths and indie pop that I absolutely love.
Justin Timberlake – “SoulMate”
JT brings every ounce of summertime into his newest single. It is free, fun, and as heartfelt as ever. He croons across the airy beat with playful lyrics, and the song feels like absolute sunshine.
SG Lewis & Clairo – “Better”
This song is an absolute groove. The vocals from Clairo are wrapped up in a bouncy beat from SG Lewis that leave the track with a ton of zest.
The Wombats & Dagny – “Turn”
The Wombats have recently become one of my favorite groups. Their music is vibrant and colorful, and is a constant mood booster. Then, when you add additional vocals from rising indie pop artist, Dagny, there is a new flutter and flare to their music.
Blonde & Bryn Christopher – “Me, Myself, & I”
House meets funk on the new track from Blonde featuring Bryn Christopher. “Me, Myself, & I” is yet another song meant for the hot temperature months and the pool party filled weekends.
Francis and the Lights – “Try Thos We Might To”
I am such a fan of Francis and the Lights. Their music is unlike a lot of music that is currently being released right now, which makes me swoon over it even more.
